Taking the plunge for Motor Neurone Disease
During late August and early September 2025, approximately 60 Port Waratah employees and a number of contractors stepped forward to participate in an Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds and awareness in support of Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Seven events were held across the two terminals, with 100% representation across all teams within the business taking part.
Together with our supportive contractor partners, we raised more than $19,000 towards vital research and support services for MND. In addition to hosting our fundraising events, the shiploaders at our Carrington Terminal shone in blue during August, to further raise awareness for MND.
Trudie Larnach, Manager Sustainability and Corporate Affairs, said, “Several members of our team know someone who has been touched by MND, so we have been very keen to include this initiative in our Community Investment and Partnership Programme this year to enable the whole team at Port Waratah to come together and show their support.”
