The Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) facilitates the WIMnet to promote diversity and inclusion across the mining industry.
The mentoring programme offers structured, one-on-one mentoring with experienced industry leaders who provide tailored guidance and professional development.
For 11 consecutive years, we have actively participated in the programme, with 42 employees involved as mentees and mentors. In 2025, two employees joined as mentees and four as mentors. This brings our total mentee participation to 36 women, and many have moved into more senior roles, including senior leadership.
Mentee, Jennifer Siana, Asset Strategy Engineer, shared of the programme,
“Through regular conversations with my mentor, I gained clarity on my career direction, built confidence in my leadership style, and explored strategies for navigating challenges.”
Mentors also play a vital role. Lauren Dawson, Senior HR Business Partner, reflected:
“I was a mentee when WIMnet launched 11 years ago and now, as a mentor, it’s rewarding to give back and empower the next generation of female leaders.”
