Roller changeout to minimise noise from Carrington
To effectively manage and improve our noise emissions over time, we consider potential noise sources across our operations and maintain a long-term strategic focus. We undertake regular plant maintenance, conduct ongoing audits and reviews, improve our noise control processes, and trial and adopt technological advancements. We provide noise improvement opportunities in areas that can achieve the most significant noise reduction for our neighbouring communities.
Low-noise roller trials continued at both the Kooragang and Carrington terminals. Evaluation of the trials confirmed that the low-noise rollers can reduce noise levels, however, depending on belt specifications, not all conveyors are able to accommodate this type of roller. We will continue to install low-noise rollers where operationally appropriate.
In 2025, we replaced 2,100 rollers at our Carrington Terminal, of these approximately 108 were lower noise rollers.
