Record-breaking year for rainfall

Both of our terminals experienced exceptionally high rainfall during 2025, significantly exceeding long-term averages.

From January to May, Kooragang recorded 1,212mm (including 598mm in May alone), which surpassed the annual average of 1,134mm observed at the Williamtown weather station (1942–2025).

By year end, Kooragang had received 1,823mm of rain and Carrington recorded 1,698mm of rain, representing a 61 per cent increase over the Bureau of Meteorology’s Williamtown historical annual average. Rainfall recorded at Williamtown in 2025 was the wettest such period over the past 80 years with May setting a new monthly record.
