Ngarrama is a community-led initiative held annually on the evening of 25th January, that invites community to come together in the spirit of reconciliation, to sit, listen and deepen understanding through truth-telling, performance, open dialogue and historical acknowledgement. It is a night of reflection, welcoming the community to Mooloobinba (Newcastle), on the traditional land of the Awabakal and Worimi peoples.

Port Waratah is delighted to have been an invited key event sponsor for the second consecutive year. This initiative aligns with our Reconciliation Action Plan and our Community Investment and Partnership Programme by fostering inclusion, understanding and meaningful connection.

More than 6,000 people attended the event in 2025.

Reflecting on the event and partnership with Port Waratah, University of Newcastle’s Nathan Towney, Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Engagement and Equity) shared:
