Finding a viable recycling solution for our large volume of used steel corded conveyor belting has advanced during 2025.

Port Waratah has engaged several quality providers who can reutilise this product into different commercial waste products for secondary use.

Several processing trials were conducted during 2025 and will continue into 2026. The most promising solution so far has been the recycling of the used belting into road construction material, followed by agricultural applications in Australia. To date, more than 1000 tonnes of steel corded belt has been recycled.
