Port Waratah University Scholarships Announced

Two Port Waratah Coal Services Undergraduate Scholarships were awarded at a breakfast function during the University of Newcastle Scholars Week in September.

Forty students applied for the Port Waratah Scholarships, valued at $7,000 each, and two were selected.

These scholars were selected on the basis of a written statement, performance at their interview and academic merit.

For 2014, the two recipients of these scholarships are Steven Karabetsis and Luke Brouwer.

Steven is studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)/Bachelor of Business. This program normally takes five years to complete full-time and Steven is currently in the second half of his first year.

Luke is studying a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)/Bachelor of Business. Again, this program normally takes five years to complete full-time and Luke is currently in the second half of his first year.

Port Waratah’s CEO, Hennie du Plooy attended the function and was pleased to present Steven and Luke with their scholarships.
